Summer at Cleveland Institute of Music Since 1920, the Cleveland Institute of Music Preparatory and Continuing Education Division has introduced thousands of children and adults to the world of music. In addition to ongoing music lessons, three camps will be offered. CIM Summer FluteFest (June 19 – June 30), a two-week experience for flutists age 11 through high school, combines individual practice, movement classes, ensemble rehearsals and performance in a fun, fast-paced environment. CIM Summer Chamber Music (July 10 – July 21), a 10-day experience for pianists and string players interested in exploring chamber music, combines coachings, supervised rehearsals, ear training, chamber music literature classes, rehearsal techniques, movement classes, public master classes and a final performance. The Young Composers Program (July 16 – July 22) is a week-long opportunity for composers ages 15-19. Each will take classes in compositional craft, receive private lessons, enjoy listening sessions and have seminars on a variety of topics. Cleveland Clinic Summer ADHD Camp Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) can negatively impact a child’s academic performance and social/emotional development, and may eventually limit a person’s chance of success in school and in the workplace. The Cleveland Clinic’s Summer Treatment Program for children with ADHD offers a unique approach to managing the condition. The seven-week program is staffed by professionals from The Children’s Hospital at The Cleveland Clinic, and is designed for children ages 6 to 11 as well as teenagers 12 to 14 years old. Participants are divided into groups of 10 to 12 based on age. Five clinical staff members supervise each group. Groups remain together throughout the day, allowing children to function as part of a team and make new friends. Participants spend three hours each day in a classroom setting as they learn to manage their behavior in a school environment. Falcon Horse Lover Camp is Unique The Falcon Horse Lover Camp is a private one-week riding camp for horse lovers only. In this unique riding program, you receive your own horse and eat, sleep and breathe horses all day, every day. University School Adds Sports Camp Boys and girls from grades K-12 are invited to discover the sensational summer programs offered at U.S. While the sessions run between June 12 and July 28, individual programs vary in length. The Day Camp is a full six-week program for boys entering grades K-6 that teaches skills and fosters sportsmanship. Sports clinics provide concentrated skill development for boys in grades 5 – 9 in baseball, basketball, football, lacrosse, speed training, wrestling, soccer (grades K-9), and the NEW! All-American Sports Camp (grades 6-8). For boys and girls, tennis instruction is offered beginning in grade 4, and the Golf Clinic provides skill development beginning in grade 5. A variety of academic classes are offered for students entering grades 8–12. Extended care is available both mornings and afternoon at the Shaker Heights campus, and a shuttle bus operates between the two campuses.
